Maebelle Denya Nortey

WGHS 2003 Year Group Patron

Mrs. Maebelle Denya Nortey is a proud member of the 1983 year group of Wesley Girls' High School. She is a General Manager and Divisional Head (Marketing) at Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited, with over twenty (20) years of experience in the Banking industry. She has oversight responsibility for some sectors and branches in the Bank and leads them in the acquisition and maintenance of business accounts as well as achieving the Bank’s goals and objectives.

 

Prior to joining Zenith Bank, she was the Regional Director (Retail and Consumer Banking) at Standard Trust Bank (now UBA Ghana Ltd.). She started her career as an Account Relationship Manager at Lintas, then Ghana’s foremost advertising agency. She previously also worked as the Brands Manager at the Accra Brewery Limited and was the Head of Marketing at SG-SSB Bank (now Societe Generale Ghana Ltd.).

Education

Mrs. Maebelle Denya Nortey holds a degree in Administration (Management) and a Masters in Business Administration (Marketing), both from the University of Ghana, Legon. She is an award-winning banker and an exceptional marketer with a wealth of experience in product development, brand strategy, channel management and business planning. She has attended numerous workshops and executive programs at Harvard University, Wharton University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology all in the United States, as well as working visits to a host of countries, including Nigeria, South Africa and United Kingdom. She strongly believes that excellence is achieved through hard work.

An exceptional leader by all standards

In her role as Divisional Head (Marketing), Mrs. Denya Nortey ensures the optimization of account portfolios through the provision of tailor-made banking products and services that meet the banking needs of customers in a very innovative and efficient way. She is also in charge of building a strong network of contacts that drive proactive business development for the Bank through the delivery of exceptional customer service at all times. Her marketing expertise and proactive personality has contributed immensely to boosting Zenith Bank’s revenue growth, customer acquisition levels and profitability. Her personal philosophy, which drives her in the Bank, is to be the highest achiever of goals set, by combining creativity and a strong understanding of her role to provide the utmost value for the Bank.

She is a leadership figure and a role model in the Bank with qualities worth emulating. She also ensures that each employee’s role and contribution to the growth of the Bank is acknowledged and duly appreciated. Mrs. Denya Nortey is an advocate for the training and development of members of staff.

A remarkable track record

Her admirable work and professionalism earned her a nomination for the CIMG Professional Marketer of the Year in 2003 and was also awarded Best Marketing Person at Standard Trust Bank (United Bank for Africa) in 2005. At the 5th Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards held in April 2019, she was awarded the Banking Personality of the Year Award for her accomplishments in Ghana’s financial sector. Most recently, Mrs. Maebelle Denya Nortey was adjudged Transformational Leader of the Year (Finance) at the Women’s Choice Awards held in 2022.
